About Us

HISTORY

REINS was established as a program of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension.   Its purpose is to assist in the education and development of the North Carolina Horse Industry.   This program is coordinated by Extension Horse Husbandry, at North Carolina State University, and participating county agents. Through guidance of a coordination extension agent, horse owners in a multi-county area are organized into a Regional Equine Educational Association.   These regional associations link together the educational efforts of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, the promotional efforts of the North Carolina Horse Council, and the marketing efforts of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, as well as the sponsorship support of agri-business contacts.

MISSION

REINS supports, enhances, and promotes the North Carolina Equine Industry through research based educational programming and information transfer.

VISION

REINS is nationally recognized as the premier organization dedicated to providing research based information to the North Carolina Equine Industry.   REINS is a collaborative effort among the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, highly trained volunteers, and the equine industry.

VOLUNTEER

A strong volunteer base is essential to the success of REINS.  After completing intensive training, volunteers serve as REINS representatives, taking their expertise and knowledge to the places where it is needed most.  If you are interested in playing a role in the progression of the North Carolina Horse Industry, becoming a REINS volunteer may be right for you.

REINS is no longer charging a membership fee!  We would like to invite the entire equestrian community to participate!
